exam disease

Back when I was in college, every semester around final exams I would remain fairly calm, cool, and focused...on the outside. On the inside, apparently, I was freaking out. Just as the library was becoming a second home for some, and I as I began outlining and re-reading and writing feverishly--my body would produce some sort of super random yet unnaturally worrisome ailment. Two that stand out in particular were a strange lump on my hand/wrist area--and the time my feet kept going numb. And just so you don't think I'm some sort of crazy person (well, totally crazy anyway) I actually showed these to other people and have witnesses. (Hi, Mom!)

So, what does this have to do with my 2013 exam-less self? Well, let's just say there have been a lot of changes at work. Fairly unexpected changes that directly impact me. And let's just say I've been pretty calm and cool. Let's also say for two days I couldn't walk without hobbling due to what i can only describe as some sort of random and totally unwarranted sprain to my left hamstring.  Let's also say Jarret fell off his bike for the first time since I've known him. Luckily he managed to escape with only a few lost layers of skin, some bruising, and a general all-over achyness. But the moral of the story? Exam disease is real! And apparently...contagious.

PS my new year resolution was to write more. And there's no better time to start than the present, right???
